The 10th meeting of the Working Group on Flood Management and Climate Change Adaptation was organized in the framework of the Climate Change and Security in the Dniester River Basin component of the project Climate Change and Security in Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Southern Caucasus, funded by the European Union’s Instrument for Stability and the Austrian Development Cooperation and implemented by UNECE and OSCE, under the auspices of the Environment and Security Initiative (ENVSEC) took place in Kyiv on 22-23 April 2015. The Strategic Framework for Adaptation to Climate Change in the Dniester River Basin developed in co-operation and consultation with responsible national authorities as well as its implementation plan were presented and discussed at the event. In addition, the meeting reviewed and discussed priority climate change adaptation measures selected for implementation within the project as well as on-going work on development of the river basin management plans for the Dniester and other rivers in Moldova and Ukraine. The list of priority adaptation measures is presented below.

High-Level Event on Climate Change and Transboundary Cooperation in the Dniester river basin took place on 23 April 2015. The event involved Mr. Lazar Chirica, the Deputy Minister of Environment of the Republic of Moldova, Mr. Sergiy Kurykin, the Deputy Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine and relevant representatives of water management and other sectoral agencies as well as of the regional, international and donor organizations.

During the meeting the representatives of the countries acknowledged the importance of transboundary cooperation in the Dniester River Basin, including signing of the Treaty on Cooperation on Conservation and Sustainable Development of the Dniester River Basin, and endorsed the Strategic Framework for Adaptation to Climate Change in the Dniester River Basin developed within the project.
