On 20-21 April 2016 the 12th meeting of the Working Group on Flood Management and Climate Change Adaptation was organized in Kiev in the framework of the Climate Change and Security in the Dniester River Basin component of the project Climate Change and Security in Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Southern Caucasus, funded by the European Union’s Instrument for Stability and the Austrian Development Cooperation and implemented by UNECE and OSCE, under the auspices of the Environment and Security Initiative (ENVSEC). The draft implementation plan for the Strategic Framework for Adaptation to Climate Change in the Dniester River Basin was presented and discussed at the event. In addition, the meeting reviewed the results of the priority climate change adaptation measures selected for implementation within the project as well as future steps within the project. The meeting was also focused on more strategic cooperation between Moldova ad Ukraine including further efforts for entering of the bilateral Dniester Basin Treaty into force, development of the basin management plan, update of the exploitation rules for the Dniester reservoirs, the future GEF project “Enabling transboundary cooperation and integrated water resources management in the Dniester River Basin” and the problem of water scarcity within the basin.
