The first meeting of the Dniester Commission was held in Chisinau on 17 September 2018.
The 13th (final) meeting of the Working Group on Flood Management and Climate Change Adaptation in the Dniester basin took place in Chisinau on 23 March 2017. The meeting was organized in the frame of the project component “Climate Change and Security in the Dniester River Basin”.
A validation meeting of the preparatory phase of the GEF project “Enabling transboundary cooperation and integrated water resources management in the Dniester River Basin” took place in Kyiv, Ukraine on 21 November 2016.
GEF PROJECT ON THE DNIESTER RIVER BASIN. INVITATION TO COMMENT THE PROJECT IDENTIFICATION FORM The Global Environment Facility (GEF), https://www.thegef.org/gef/International_Waters) allocated almost 2 million USD for a Moldovan-Ukrainian project “Enabling transboundary cooperation and integrated water resources management in the Dniester River Basin”.
“International Dniester Day 2016”. Each year on the second Saturday of July the “International Day of the Dniester” is celebrated in the Dniester river basin. The list of the events which will be conducted on Ukrainian part of the basin can be found on the website of the Dniester-Prut Basin Water Management in the section “Environmental events”.
Environment friendly flood management saves lives and protects nature
On 20-21 April 2016 the 12th meeting of the Working Group on Flood Management and Climate Change Adaptation was organized in Kiev

14 December 2012 the bilingual Environmental Atlas of the Dniester Basin was published. The publication was developed in the framework of the UNECE/OSCE/UNEP project “Transboundary cooperation and sustainable management in the Dniester River basin: Phase III – Implementation of the Action Programme” (Dniester-III) within the Environment and Security Initiative under financial support from the governments of Finland and Sweden

Field studies find water quality problems and alarming decline in fish species in the Dniester River
Two new reports reviewing the environmental condition of the Dniester River indicate water quality problems in the Lower Dniester and its estuary as well as alarming declines in fish populations. The objectives of the research were to collect information on water quality and bottom sediments, as well the state of the fish populations in the Dniester. At the same time, the joint work served to improve of transboundary cooperation between the two countries.
30 November – 2 December 2011 a series of the meetings of the Dniester-III project will be held in Kyiv, in particular:
30th November – a meeting of the working group on information management in the Dniester river basin. The meeting will focus on finalization of the Dniester River basin Atlas and a pilot geoinformation system (GIS).
Results of the contest «Colors of the Dniester-2011»
The Dniester basin –wide contest «Colors of the Dniester-2011» was held from 22 April to 12 September 2011. For the first time the contest was conducted in 2009.
Poster „Fishes of transboundary Middle and Lower Dniester”
NGOs „Vitality”, „Renaşterea Rurală” and „Eco-Tox”, the Eco-TIRAS members, in cooperation with scientists developed and published the poster with fishes of transboundary Middle and Lower Dniester. In total there are reflected 84 species and forms of fishes. The work has been done in frames of the project supported by GEF via UNDP Moldova. The poster contains also proposals on the status of each fish species in relation to the future 3rd edition of the Red Data Book of the Republic of Moldova. The publication will be interesting for naturalists, university students, school teachers, scientists and specialists in field of ecology, nature protection and ichthyology.
International Dniester hydro-chemical expedition (July 2011)
A working group on water monitoring (under auspice of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of Ukraine on the joint management and protection of the cross-border waters (1994)) with support of the UNECE / OSCE / UNEP “Dniester-III” project will conduct a joint Moldavan-Ukrainian hydro-chemical expedition along the Dniester river in July 2011.
International Dniester Day (Ukraine, 9 July 2011)
During celebration of the Dniester Day water authorities of Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Khmelnytsk, Chernivci, Vinnycia and Odesa regions of Ukraine plan to organize a series of events devoted to conservation of the Dniester.
Contest “Colors of the Dniester – 2011” (Moldova – Ukraine, 30 April – 12 September 2011)
“Colors of the Dniester – 2011” is a Dniester river basin-wide annual contest which this year is a part of information campaign “Conserve the Dniester”. Schoolchildren, students and teachers of educational institutions from Moldova and Ukraine are welcomed to participate. The categories of works include paintings; photos; video and podcasts; events on water resource conservation; stories, poems and popular scientific papers. Press-tour and workshop in environmental journalism (the Dniester, 18-23 July 2011)
A press-tour and a master-class on environmental journalism “Environmental problems of the Dniester river basin and solutions: role of preventive environmental journalism” will be organized along the Dniester river on 18-23 June 2011.
International conference “The Dniester river basin: environmental problems and management of transboundary water resources” (Tiraspol, 15-16 October 2010)
International conference “The Dniester river basin: environmental problems and management of transboundary water resources” will be held in Tiraspol (Transdniestria, the Republic of Moldova) on 15-16 October 2010. NGO Ecospectrum will host the conference in partnership with Transdniestrian State University after Taras Shevchenko.

International conference of biologists and geographers (Bender, 11 March 2010)
The international conference devoted to 135-year anniversary of the researcher Berg will be held on 11 March 2010 in Bendery (Republic of Moldova). Berg was one of the scientists who contributed a lot to development of different fields in biology and geography. Examples of research in natural sciences will be presented at the conference.

The International Conference “Transboundary River Basin Management and International Cooperation for Healthy Dniester ” will take place in Odessa on September 22-23, 2009
A series of events dedicated to the problems of the Dniester River basin will take place in Chisinau on 10-13 March, 2009. It will be organized by “Eco-TIRAS” scientific development and production center jointly with Transboundary Cooperation Center (Tartu, Estonia) and Estonian MFA .

Council of the Dniester River Basin (Chernivtsi, 17 December 2008)
17 December 2008 in Chernovtsy a meeting on establishment of the Council of the Dniester River Basin was held. Forty participants took part in the meeting. Additional information including the protocol of the meeting is presented in the Council of the Dniester River Basin.
The first meeting “Information Management System for the Trasnboundary Dniester River Basin” conducted by ENVSEC organizing committee and project technical group was held.
The Dniester II project will be completed in 2007. At the beginning of the next year a publication on the results of the project will be prepared.

15th OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum took place in Prague, the Czech Republic on 21-23 May 2007. The second round of the public consultations in the frame of the project took place in Odessa on 13 April 2007.

A group of doctors from Chisinau and Tiraspol met with the staff of the Odessa oblast sanitary-epidemiological station in Odessa on 11 and 12 April 2007.

The final 5th project meeting took place in Chisinau on 11th June 2007. The meeting was devoted to discussion of the Action Programme and farther actions by the end of the project (31st October 2007) and possible follow up.
