PRESS–TOUR AND WORKSHOP IN ENVIRONMENTAL JOURNALISM (THE DNIESTER, 18-23 JULY 2011)
A press-tour and a master-class on environmental journalism “Environmental problems of the Dniester river basin and solutions: role of preventive environmental journalism” will be organized along the Dniester river on 18-23 June 2011.
Environment and Security Initiative (ENVSEC) invites journalists from the Republic of Moldova and five oblasts of Ukraine (Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Chernivtsi and Odesa oblasts) who focus on or are interested in starting working on environmental and related problems to participate in the press-tour and the master-class on environmental journalism. The event is organized in the frame of the UNECE / OSCE / UNEP project “Transboundary cooperation and sustainable management in the Dniester River basin: Phase III – Implementation of the Action Programme” (Dniester-III) in partnership with an NGO “Green Cross” (Ukraine).
During 6 days of the press-tour participants will be able to exchange experience, be introduced to a number of environmental issues and potential solutions, communicate with Ukrainian and international experts, expand knowledge about international and local environmental initiatives. The trainers of the workshop are Alex Kirby, an outstanding environmental journalist who works with various environmental programs on BBC, Susan Boos, a chief editor of WOZ Wochenzeitung, Switzerland, with a lot of journalism experience in Ukraine and Belarus, and Oleg Lystopad, a prominent Ukrainian environmental journalist and a head of Letters and Legislation Department of “Selianska Pravda” newspaper.
