The 13th (final) meeting of the Working Group on Flood Management and Climate Change Adaptation in the Dniester basin took place in Chisinau on 23 March 2017. The meeting was organized in the frame of the project component “Climate Change and Security in the Dniester River Basin” which is implemented by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and is part of a larger project “Climate Change and Security in Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Southern Caucasus”, funded by the European Union’s Instrument for Stability and the Austrian Development Cooperation. During the meeting the final outcomes of the project, including the final version of the Implementation Plan of the “Strategic Framework for Adaptation to Climate Change in the Dniester River Basin” were presented and discussed.
The participants have discussed financing mechanisms proposed by the Implementation Plan and reviewed the results of real-time forecasting of inflow into the Dniester reservoirs. Besides, during the meeting the joint hydrometeorological platform for data exchange between hydrometeorological agencies of Moldova and Ukraine and the web-system for calculating current and long-term water balance were presented.
