On 22 October 2015 the 11th meeting of the Working Group on Flood Management and Climate Change Adaptation was organized in Chisinau in the framework of the Climate Change and Security in the Dniester River Basin component of the project Climate Change and Security in Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Southern Caucasus, funded by the European Union’s Instrument for Stability and the Austrian Development Cooperation and implemented by UNECE and OSCE, under the auspices of the Environment and Security Initiative (ENVSEC). The draft implementation plan for the Strategic Framework for Adaptation to Climate Change in the Dniester River Basin was presented and discussed at the event. In addition, the meeting reviewed the results of the priority climate change adaptation measures selected for implementation within the project. The draft implementation plan and a short summary of the results of priority adaptation measures are presented below.
On 20 October 2015 the workshop on automated system of calculating water management balance for the Dniester basin was organized in Chisinau. The workshop reviewed the following issues:
– adapted methodologies of delimitation for and calculation of water management balance for the Dniester basin;
– automated system for calculating water management balance and results of its testing.
The workshop helped to clarify a lot of technical issues evolved during testing of the system by water management and hydrometeorological authorities. They were also discussed during bilateral consultations and installation of the automated system in the offices of the Agency “Apele Moldovei”, District Basin Water Management Authority and State Hydrometeorological Service in Moldova on 21 October.
