Moldovan-Ukrainian

1. Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of Ukraine on the joint management and protection of the cross-border waters (1994) –  a principal document which regulates joint management of the Dniester River basin, requests revision and upgrade in accordance with modern principles.

Five regulations compliment the 1994 Agreement. Three of them, i.e. the Regulation of Ukrainian-Moldovan cooperation on flood protection in the cross-border watercourses and inner waterbodies, the Regulation of Ukrainian-Moldovan cooperation on water-ecological monitoring and water quality control, and the Regulation on measures at dangerous and emergency pollution of the cross-border waters, which is impossible to avoid are available in Russian.

2. Regulation on stakeholder participation in the activities of the institution of Plenipotentiaries (2007)  establishes a detailed procedure for public participation in the work of the Dniester Commission.

3. Regulation on Ukrainian-Moldovan cooperation in the management of the joint Dniester River basin website defines the procedure for a systematic update of the Dniester River basin website. The Regulation was signed and entered into force on 19 December 2007.

4. Protocol of Intentions regarding cooperation for the environmental rehabilitation of the Dniester river basin (signed in the frame of the Dniester-I project in 2005)

5. Action programme to improve transboundary cooperation and sustainable management of the Dniester river basin in the period 2007-2010 outlines a concrete framework for the development of bilateral cooperation and management of the Dniester River basin, at the river basin level for a period of four years. The Action Programme and the division of responsibilities in its implementation received letters of support from the Apele Moldovei, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Republic of Moldova, the State Committee on Water Management of Ukraine, the State Hydrometeorological Service of Ukraine, and the Ministry of Protection of Natural Environment of Ukraine.
